1. What is meant by incubator facility?
Incubator facility will nurture an entrepreneur by means of facilitating various resources required to start an enterprise.
2. What benefit will I get as an incubatee?
The incubatees are entitled to have various facilities available in the park for a nominal charge. They can also avail services from the host institution on a rental basis.
3. Who are eligible to join the park?
Start-up Companies, SMEs, entrepreneurs/individuals with innovative idea for the development of new products/processes can register with the park
4. How one can get admitted to the Park?
Guidelines are hosted under Registration.
5. What is the time taken to start working as an incubatee?
Normally it takes one month after registration.
6. What are the facilities available to incubatee?
You will be provided with office space, common office facilities, access to host institution library and the Common Instrumentation Facility.
7. I have an innovative idea which is not related to Nutraceuticals and Phytochemicals. Can I apply for registration?
Though the park is primarily focused on nutraceuticals and functional foods, it would support innovative ideas in the area of food processing and technology.
8. What is the tenure of the incubation?
Initially the incubation period is fixed for 18 months. However it can be extended for another six months with due-approval.
9. I am an entrepreneur from the state of Karnataka. Do I get any incentives to start an enterprise?
The park is open to entrepreneurs from all the states. However the park would provide 30% discount to entrepreneurs from Karnataka.
10. Is there any academic qualification necessary for registration?
There is no essential qualification required for applying for registration. But you should have an understanding of the domain knowledge.
11. Is there any fee for registration?
There is a nominal fee required for registration
12. How the expenditure is met for laboratory consumables of the incubatee?
Cost of chemicals & consumables are to be borne by the incubatee.
13. Will I be provided with manpower to do the lab work?
Your firm can hire their personnel for carrying out the work.
14. Do I have to come for registration with funding?
Not necessarily. But you must have some source of funding primarily for basic requirement.
15. I am not an incubatee. But I want to use the Common Instrumentation Facility and I am ready to pay any charges for it. Will I be allowed?
The host institution has various services which include the SAIF portal and Pilot Plant services. Both can be accessed from CFTRI website.
16. With whom the ownership of the Intellectual Property Rights lies?
The ownership of IPR lies with the incubatee unless any technical support from the host institution is involved.
17. Are there any technical persons to help me to use analytical instruments?
The host institution will assist in operating sophisticated instruments like GC, HPLC, etc.
18. Will the incubator help in marketing of the product obtained by incubation?
The facility is not meant for manufacturing. However test marketing can be tried by incubatee.
19. Can I go for the large scale production using the incubator facility?
The required volumes of the product for sample testing / test marketing are supported.
20. I want to leave the incubation before the tenure. What is the procedure?
You have to request the host institution with due notice.
21. Is it possible to transfer the technology developed during the incubation period?
Yes. The host institution will assist in technology transfer to any third party.
